There's a Bot for That
Echos of Steve Jobs' famous line when he introduced the iPhone app store in 2007. Now, there's a generative AI bot store and it's waiting for you to create something useful.
Bots have never really grown on me that much. This is not to say that I don’t use them. I think I dislike typing a lot (said the writer). Despite my feeling that they’re not ideal as super productive interfaces, there are increasingly more people who love them and use them often.
These chatbot users [apparently] enjoy self-service, a pattern that began to emerge about the time the Internet started to gain momentum. It’s why there are no travel agencies in every strip mall (as there were in 1995). It’s why we rarely buy airplane tickets at a counter. And we’re quickly becoming comfortable with the absence of humans servicing the order queue at McDonald’s.
Generative AI has propelled chatbots to new heights. ChatGPT has garnered millions of users who swear by its transformative capabilities. However, while some businesses have witnessed a positive impact, others remain unaware of the negative repercussions of incorporating copy/paste tasks into their workflows. It is imperative to weigh the pros and cons of such technology before embracing it fully.
We’ve entered an era where chat interfaces will become increasingly desirable for many use cases, specifically those embellished with integrated [hidden] intelligence.
These are almost like mini-copilots, generative AI morsels whose center is like a treat with variants of tasty fillings. You can craft a box of AI chocolates that deliver value to hopeful AI users, some with caramel fillings and others with nuts and flavorful creams.
Anyone who can create a generative AI prompt is instantly an AI chocolatier.
Poe users can “subscribe” to your AI treats and even pay for ones that deliver good value. This is possible in Poe today. Try mine - it’s free, and if you’re a subscriber to Impertinent, you might enjoy using it to converse with my articles.
Did I mention performance? When we think of adding a layer between us and LLMs, one thing comes to mind - slow. ChatGPT is already slow. I don’t know what sort of magic the Poe developers have, but color me impressed. This generative AI platform is blistering fast.
